Teachers for Global Classrooms (run by IREX) is a FULLY FUNDED Fulbright Program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. This program is a year-long professional development opportunity for teachers to develop skills to help globalize curriculum, teach cross-cultural understanding, and prepare students for a global world. As part of the program, TGC fellows will complete a fully funded spring or summer placement outside of the USA. (*Senora Traub went to Senegal!)

Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Programs consist of FULLY FUNDED opportunities for teachers ranging from 2-6 week short term programs to 3-6 months long term programs in which US teachers work abroad in order to build teachers' and students' global competence and share best educational practices internationally.

NOAA Teacher at Sea is a FULLY FUNDED program by the U.S. Government. As part of this program, kindergarten through college-level teachers sail aboard NOAA research ships to learn about oceanic and atmospheric research crucial to our nation.
Fund for Teachers awards self-designed professional development grants for PreK-12 grade educator. FFT fellows have traveled to 148 different countries across all seven continents. Fund for Teachers honors the professionalism of dedicated teachers and values their judgment as to what best impacts their practice... so your dream grant idea can qualify!
Transatlantic Outreach Program is a FUNDED public / private partnership that promotes education about Germany, fosters intercultural dialogue, and provides the opportunity for North American social studies educators, STEM educators, and decision makers to experience Germany. TOP offers free resources, conferences, and fully funded trips abroad to Germany to strengthen the connection between countries and education.
The Japan-U.S. Teacher Exchange Program for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is a FULLY FUNDED opportunity for teachers to travel to Japan to learn about ESD efforts and strengthen ESD curricula in both countries.
The program aims to deepen a sense of global interconnectedness between teachers in Japan and the United States.
Havard University's Think Tank on Global Education invites educators to be at the forefront of testing and developing cutting-edge curriculum to advance global competence in global studies, in classrooms, schools and districts. The program consists of a 2 day institute where teachers will hear from empowering global leaders and will work in groups to devise curriculum and build a network of global education colleagues.
Global Exploration for Educators Organization is a non-profit organization that runs travel programs for teachers. Programs are available in the summer and during school breaks. Graduate credit can be awarded and grants are available to help with funding. Programs are open to K-12 current and retired teachers as well as administrators and educators' guests.
The Stevens Initiative awards annual grants to educational institutions to administer virtual exchanges between the United States and the Middle East/North Africa. The initiative's program has reached over 25, 000 students in 18 countries in the Middle East/North Africa and 31 U.S. states. Grant applications are due September 13th.
National Geographic Educator Certification is a FREE professional development program that recognizes pre-K through 12 formal and informal educators committed to inspiring the next generation of explorers, conservationists, and changemakers. Participants receive early access to new National Geographic programs—including classroom connections with National Geographic Explorers—and they are eligible to apply for the annual Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship.
Earth Expeditions offers international programs for educators with the goal of building an alliance of individuals with first-hand knowledge of inquiry-driven, community-based learning for the benefit of ecological communities, student achievement, and global understanding. Participants collaborate with Miami University faculty and classmates in Dragonfly Workshops. If you are looking to get your Masters with a focus on STEM teaching and global education, definitely check this out!
The National Association of Japan-America Societies offers a variety of fellowships that allow teachers to travel to Japan and learn first hand about contemporary Japanese society and enhance their classroom teaching of global perspectives.
The National Endowment for the Humanities offers 1-3 week tuition-free opportunities for teachers to study a variety of humanitarian topics during the summer. Stipends are provided for food, lodging, etc.
Primary Source offers free digital resources and online seminars such as "Latin America & the Caribbean Today: Topics for the Classroom" to help teachers expand their global learning. They also host a podcast called What Teachers Need to Know about global current events and offer Study Tours around the world!
EarthWatch Institute offers FULLY FUNDED fellowships to teachers who are passionate in conservation, environment sustainability, and life-long learning. Projects such as Teach Earth USA and Project Kindle USA are available.
PolarTREC (Teachers and Researchers Exploring and Collaborating) is a FULLY FUNDED program in which teachers spend 3-6 weeks participating in hands-on field research experiences in the polar regions. The goal of PolarTREC is to invigorate polar science education and understanding by bringing educators and polar researchers together.
Through The NEA Foundation Global Fellowship teachers develop the knowledge and skills to integrate global competency into their daily classroom instruction, advocate for global competency in their schools, and help students to thrive in our increasingly interconnected world. Fellows participate in a 12 months professional development program that includes in-person workshops, online coursework, and peer learning, as well as an international field study experience (2018-2019 will be in South Africa!)
The Global Competence Certificate is an online, graduate-level certificate program hosted by Teachers College, Colombia University, World Savvy, and the Asia Society. The program prepares educators to better understand global issues, teach for global competence, and facilitate students' development as globally informed, engaged citizens. The program includes an international placement.
EdCamp Global organizes an online conference where teachers can share how they have integrated global collaborations in their classrooms. The conference reaches 83 countries and provides a great network for teachers looking to collaborate.

Global Education Conference hosts a Global Collaboration Week in September where teachers will design and host connective projects and events and invite public participation. This is an opportunity for educators new to globally connected learning to participate in virtual activities designed by more experienced teachers. And for educators running ongoing global projects to find project partners! This organization also hosts an enormous online Global Ed conference in November.

Where There Be Dragons hosts a variety of Educator Courses that include community building, professional development, and exchange of best practices among progressive educators who strive to weave global education into their classroom curriculum. Programs range from Leadership in Global Education in Nepal to Teaching Contemporary Middle Easter Issues in Jordan. Although there is a cost to these programs, I believe they would be a good candidate for a grant through Fund for Teachers.
